It's nice of you to learn more about them and ask how you can help. First, I think it's great that you want to participate and learn more. Theres not really a simple checklist that can write, but I have some ideas. If you have not already done so, see some sites for online information. If you have not been, go to the American Diabetes Association for general information on the topic. I believe that the participation would be in a support group with meetings a good opportunity to interact and learn. They may be reluctant to come to himself, but I'm sure it would be very glad you took the worry and concern. You could go together or even for themselves. We just say they (the group) are interested in learning more about him.

Is this a little more than a friend can not get interested to know the doctor's office with them to learn more. If that's probably too personal. I am diabetic too long, and sometimes it is better if the diabetes can be difficult to talk from time to time. Research on their own with minimal symptoms, but it has so long and is healthy, that they would leave, is the torment enough, have been friends, so that it can not be the whole time that torture mentally.

Since I had most of his life, I think, basically, use what you do and got to eat the right foods.

the best way to help your friend who spends time with him at regular intervals. (eg, jogging, watch a movie or go to the gym every Saturday)

Avoid sugary foods, when it comes. :)
